Grand wagoneers

All the offshore body parts sources have sheet metal for the Grand Waggy. Engine parts are readily available as well.

I had a 69 Willys custom, thats what they called the first ones. Loved it, had a 350 Dauntless [buick] T400, Spicer 20 TC and D44's both ends. Very basic, no electronics, A/C under the dash w/york compressor, warn hubs, 6 bolt wheels. Very quick especially after I added the 69 buick grand sport intake, 4bbl and a set of hookers. Most parts available everywhere, used alot of common parts available at tractor stores even.
Downside, $500 for a new fuel tank, Hours spent getting the electric rear window to work, all in-line fuses all over the jeep, had to build a consolidated fuse panel by hand and rewire the whole thing. Hard time getting brake shoes and drums but that might have been the D44's, that was when I knew nothing about jeeps and pre-internet days, neighbor gave it to me back in 87.
It got about 25-29mph as long as I did not open those secondaries, open them and you could hear the gas draining from the 30 gallon tank. I still wish I had it but I could not keep up with the rusting out floors. It was sweet though, that 350 w/hookers and dual thrush mufflers, oooooweeeee, our dog knew I was headed home while I was still five miles from the house :D

Check if rear electric motors are available for the tailgate, I never could find a new or rebuilt one, ended up winding my own 5 times or so till I got it right.

How fast did you go if you opened it up ? :D

Before I knew about the differences in full time/part time TC's, I could smoke all 4 Kelly LT235 safari AT's on dry pavement with it in 4hi and the warn hubs locked. Top end, fastest I went was about 110 which is where the spedo pretty much ended but it put you back in the seat during the 10 or 12 seconds it took to get there...
It was pretty sparsley equipped compared to later ones with their leather and power everything. This one was the base model, comparable to a SE. The only power anything was that PIA rear window... gotta say though it had some thick body metal on it...not to mention that custom US Govt paint job [it was an ex army jeep, probably NY National guard, the ngo numbers were under the hood on the firewall]...

Wish I knew then what I know now....

If it's running $1300 is a pretty good price for a 1990. Naturally depending on the condition. Major thing to look at is RUST, since you've already done that and feel OK with it you should be fine.
If you get it check out www.ifsja.org for tech help etc.

Thanks for all the input guys, but I passed on it. I picked it up today at lunch, and had the mechs at work look it over. The Rad. had a leak in it, the tranny leaked, and the rear end was fawked (amongst other things!). So I passed on it. So my search for a new ride continues..... wish me luck!

sounds like a sweet ride RichP!!! My 70 is just about the same minus the AC. No clue how you get that good mileage?????? Then again, I live life in the secondaries =)

1300 seems fair, especially if rust free. there's a strong group of guys in the Georgia area which is where I thought I read you were from. The rear window is likely either the channel, or the safty switch being broken. not too hard to fix and yes you can get the motors. I've taken a few apart and never feared for my hands or any type of danger.

double, triple, and quadruple check the from near the skidplate for the gas tank. take a light. take two lights. seriously, if it has rust issues this is where they will be. seriously

And they do handle great.
