Govt rights to track you

i dont think it would take very many trackers to get the poitn across. granted they arent cheap, but i dont think a fleet of trackers would be needed, just a few on some important vehicles and call it a day..
I bet I can build em for less than 50 bucks each, though you would need to supply your own 2 meter ham radio for each. Could also do sms based location beacons but that would cost more.

Sadly it is easier than this to track people. With Sprint as my cell phone provider I can hook up the family tracker feature. I used a free trial of it.
I am actually allowed to put down any cell number that has gps on it and track that person. Not just family. Sure it sends a text to that person saying they are being tracked. But then what? they could ask me to remove them. I don't have to tho...

If you aren't supposed to be doing so, they could call spring and have it removed, or probably file a harassment lawsuit.

On the other hand you could easily cover it up by sending a few dozen spoofed spam texts while enabling tracking, they'd likely mass-delete all of it and never even know.

Does anyone with a brain carry a cell phone when they're worried about being tracked?

Yep...... a pre-paid throw-away!

I hate to say it folks, but... LE has already been planting GPS trackers for a while now.

Both State & Federal agencies often employ this method without a warrant in order to enhance their ability to tail and surveil suspected
wildlife violaters, drug trafficers, car & trailer theives, etc, and the Feds haven't needed a warrant to access private property for intel since
the enactment of The Patriot Act. They just keep these dirty little details carefully covered up and off the books until they get the evidence
needed to obtain the proper warrants.

The good news is that unless there is reasonable probable cause to suspect you, they're not likely to be wasting their time.

Keeping things covered up and off the books makes them careful, puts them in a position where they need to be sure of what they're doing... even if only because of the risk of a public lawsuit. But now that they don't need to worry about things like that...

It's still a blatant violation of the fourth amendment and I hope someone with more money and time than me does something about it... for once I'm hoping the aclu gets involved.

Look, we don't have to track everybody. Just track all the Judges. When THEIR privacy is violated they will decide things differently. Trust me.

IIRC when the EPA was planning on enforcing OBD3 to new cars, the ACLU and Detroit got together and fought it back in the early-mid 90's and won.......too bad On-Star defeats that today:banghead:
