letank said:thank you for offering. I have been debugging my 90 wrangler w the 2.5 after missfires, then no start.... done a lot of searching.....
the cps checked fine (220ohms).... and after unplugging and replugging most of the other devices... it started on 3 cylinders....(the 4th had a spark plug connected to have a visual)
what i learned from other sites and feedbacks, is that the connectors are very sensitive to dirt (low voltage are probably impeded by dirt)
Of course i had a big oil bath after the PCV popped and cover the whole engine bay in oil. So now i am cleaning....
Going back to Renix diagnostics, I used a software called LabView (National Instruments, Tx) years ago... and still have the program. It allows you to acquire analog, up to 16 channels.... It was based on a mac platform (V.2 ) , and when windows was created they did a window based version (V.4). I think now they are at V.7.
If there is an inexpensive way to get those connectors to create an interface, it would be fun. Of course the problem is that my software is running off some older macII w the CRT.... not too mobile....
of course any PC should be able to suck datas thru the serial port as we are talking about 5volts.... or even less.
Found this neat debugging chart (scroll midway down)... it is in french... but if any interest i can do a translation

5-90 said:Cool - if you can translate, I'd appreciate it! I've lost all of my languages after my incident a year ago, so I'd not have a hope in Hell of figuring it out (I'm probably lucky I held on to English...)
Also, you might want to consider joining my RENIXPower group (groups.yahoo.com/group/RENIXPower,) since I created it as an "information exchange" for projects like this. I don't care if I invent the thing, help invent it, or just partake as a "beta tester" - my "low-buck data display" is a pet project that I'd just like to see come off...
I've got three visions (mostly concurrent) for the "low-buck RENIX display..."
1) Interface cable and small programme for PC
2) Interface cable and small programme for PalmOS
3) Interface cable and BASIC Stamp setup for installable display (probably go into the space where the clock is.)
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Evil88 said:Letank sounds like your on the same path as 5-90. Were you able to pull codes with that system? Or real time data?
letank said:W renix you cannot pull codes after the facts. It is realtime only.

Evil88 said:Ya, I know This already. With your decoding method does it give you real time data from the sensors? or are you able to work code out of it? I dont speak french to understand that link. Cool link though.
I have a DRB II and can pull codes with some simple built in tests and also get real time data from all my sensors. Of coarse its all while running since there is no built in memory like later OBD.
letank said:Evil88 when you said that you can test all sensors.... can you test cps and tps
cheers

Evil88 said:Yes. TPS I can read the value in % or I can run an step by step adjustment procedure to obtain the correct tps %. CPS I can read engine RPM's. I cant specifically test any sensor exept for the TPS. I have to read real time data or run the system test to diagnose any sensors.
