Not bad at all Mason. I can see why you liked it.
Question though - why is the snake cut into sections?
Wikipedia said:Join, or Die is a famous political cartoon created by Benjamin Franklin and first published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. The original publication by the Gazette is the earliest known pictorial representation of colonial union produced by a British colonist in America.... ...The cartoon appeared along with Franklin's editorial about the "disunited state" of the colonies, and helped make his point about the importance of colonial unity. During that era, there was a superstition that a snake which had been cut into pieces would come back to life if the pieces were put together before sunset. The cartoon has been reprinted and redrawn widely throughout American history. Variants of the cartoon have different texts, e.g. "Unite or Dead", and differently labeled segments, depending on the political bodies being appealed to. During the American Revolutionary War, the image became a potent symbol of Colonial unity and resistance to what was seen as British oppression. It returned to service, suitably redrawn, for both sides of the American Civil War.
Wikipedia said:In 1754, during the French and Indian War, Franklin published his famous woodcut of a snake cut into eight sections. It represented the colonies, with New England joined together as the head and South Carolina as the tail, following their order along the coast. Under the snake was the message "Join, or Die". This was the first political cartoon published in an American newspaper.
As the American Revolution grew closer, the snake began to see more use as a symbol of the colonies. In 1774, Paul Revere added it to the title of his paper, The Massachusetts Spy, as a snake joined to fight a British dragon. In December 1775, Benjamin Franklin published an essay in the Pennsylvania Journal under the pseudonym American Guesser in which he suggested that the rattlesnake was a good symbol for the American spirit:
"I recollected that her eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids—She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.—She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage.—As if anxious to prevent all pretensions of quarreling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenseless animal; and even when those weapons are shewn and extended for her defense, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal:—Conscious of this, she never wounds till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.—Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America?"
Looks like they spelled Brave Brabe but other than that nice tat for a cruit
the M4 is missing a few details in the sketch! lol. either way, the sketch and final product are both good. im curious to see what it looks like once its healed and if you decide to get that shading done.

I have four. Thinking of two more. All of them have a meaning/reason for being done. IMO if the tat is something memorable then it will look good. skulls and demons are fine too, if your lifestyle is concurrent with it.
tribals IMO are crap. someone got one done and then it became a fad. wrong reason to get a tat done.
also, need to think about how it will look when you are 60. skin sags and that hot female body tat turns into granny moses at 60.
I have a large "tribal" design on my leg. It is based from a design on an old ski hat of mine. I grew up skiing and it has been a very big part of my life. So the design has a lot of meaning to me. So is that crap? I didn't get it because it was a fad or cool.
Yeah, to include one of the most important details, a charging handle.

Considering yours is custom and has meaning, I think you are probably safe. But really, does it matter? Who cares what the opinion of anybody else is, they are not wearing it, you are.
I dig your tat Mcantar, turned out pretty good.
If Mac has inspired anyone to get a tattoo, here are some cool ideas.
