Gauge swap

I searched but did not find a conclusive answer. I have access to a 93's gauge cluster with gauges not idiot lights.

Can this be swapped into my 87 2.5L with idiot lights.

If I reasearched right it can but I need to get doner speedo cable.

Is this correct if anybody knows or has tried?

EDIT: See if your current cable fits. If not, use the one from the '93.
