Gaging interest in a mwc florida ltc permit class

I thought you weren't allowed to have guns in the Daley's kingdom?

:stirpot:

a side note, JJ and Beezil? the world must be ending.

Mcdonald vs chicago

My guns are legal as they should be. Even though i can carry in 40 states, it should be EVERYWHERE

Little known fact.

In illinois a gun, full mag NOT in the gun, unchambed can be kept in the center console. Not ideal, but most people think their guns have to be in the trunk

See diggins law

In Illinois:

Enclosed in a "case"
Unloaded (rounds in the clip is allowed, as long as the clip is not in the weapon)
MUST have a FOID card.

What are the thoughts about breaking the class into 4 hours Saturday AM and Sunday AM? This would still allow us to socialize and play with the non-takers and family.

Nra basic pistol is a 8 hour class and while it is a requirement for other ltc and other certs itbis NOT a req for Fl

I would do a 4 hour

Gotcha.

What are the shooting requirements for this?

I want to practice and would like to know the range I need to get good at.

Rev

no reason to practice.

targets are not scored.

don't think of it as a marksmanship program.

basic knoweldge, and more importantly ATTITUDE are the measurements.

I just recieved a box from the florida division of licensing.

I have 25 FL applications. Damn, all I asked for were 15!

I'll obtain the other course materials soon.

I'm sorry to inform, I have other obliations for labor day, unfortunately....

we WILL do this though, I am looking forward to it.

Septemeber might be a better month, august is booked!

We will be in if it is reciprocal to Wisconsin, that is the only State that will do us any good right now.

There were ammendments that were voted on during the last round of floor debate.

One was training. Barca (d) made an attempt to introduce a more robust training requirement, and I thought his rationale was sound. It wasn't the typical liberal rhetoric, rather, he was interested in reciprocity aspects. He wanted to pattern a training regime that would be comparable to what surrounding states require, specifically, Minnesota and Michigan, were mentioned. Their reciprocity agreements with other states hinge not only upon a conversant backround check, but the training parameters.

My understanding is most of the floor ammendments introduced failed, and i believe barca's did as well. I watched at least a couple hours of live floor debate and eventually had to sign off. I missed at least a couple hours as it was voted on and closed.

there are pros and cons, and even 2A supporters are split on the issue. On one hand, Gun owners will NOT have a bunch of procedural bullsshit, and associate fees placed upon them. There would actually be LESS restrictions (training) placed on a LTC applicant than a hunter applying for a deer tag (13hr. hunter education req). Part of me likes this. our 2A rights are not conditional, and are not contingent upon endorsements of any kind.

however, WITHOUT a required training module, there will probably be LIMITED reciprocity for a Wisconsin resident holding a WI LTC. Minnesota for instance, probably won't honor the current WI license. Wisconsin residents looking to excersize their rights in Minnesota will have to fulfil some kind of training requirement and obtain some other LTC anyway. This will add cost, inconveniance and BS for those folks....I'm not sure too many working on the legislation thought this through.

Wisconsin will probably honor Florida. Afterall, Wi patterned their bill based on florida. Wisonsin will still employ a backround check like florida does. However, Florida will not honor Wisconsin, and not on the grounds that they lack a training requirement. Wiscinsin will eventually publish a list of honored states, as the bill requires. We'll have to wait and see who makes the list.

Wisconsin may not honor Minnesota if Minnesota does not honor Wisconsin. This quid pro quo happens a lot....It makes it tricky trying to find out who honor who, and where your permits will be considered.

The info I've slapped on this forum may contain, or sometime in the future, contain SPOBI. Carry Laws around the country change almost weekly. My understanding of the Wisconsin bill and how Florida may interact with it comes directly from my reading the actual bill. As the bill leaves the house, travels to Walkers desk, and how this thing actually becomes implemented is subject to tweeks and other changes.

Shucks.
I was really hoping that we could pull it off at the Pig Gig......oh, well. We tried! Thank you for your efforts toward this BJ.

Since the Pig Gig thing didn't pan out.......I signed up today for a class being given locally for the FL CCW permit.

I just found out I don't have to take a class, I just have to find my DD214.

You're just lucky I took the time to read through it again!

I'm very interested. However, I'm not going to travel ~4hrs to take it the class when I can accomplish the same thing in my back yard. By the time I figure in fuel, eats and the like, I'll be well beyond what it would cost me to take it locally.

So there is no interest in this?

I'm interested, just need to have a day set and all that before I can commit.
