When I first heard about these the first thing I thought was wow, the govt is really going after fusion and cheap power generation. Then I found out what they were.

It is interesting the information collected and rerouted by these groups. As a 'customer' during my last three years on active duty got 1st hand info from the centers. They collect so much 'data' it has to be hard to mine and gleen the real threats from the drunk knuckleheads. It is working, there have been many threats/attacks thwarted since 9/11.

The FBI is the US federal governments anti-terrorism agency.

There are what, some 72 or so of these "Fusion Centers" across the country now?
(most of which came on-line somewhere between 2003-2007)

I would truly like to know the answer... can you qualify your statement?

Here, let me help you:
I've only found info on roughly 40 or so threats/attacks of varying degrees with U.S. implications thwarted world-wide since 9/11.

Please limit your response to the number of threats/attacks w/details that you can document attributable to said Fusion Centers.
(and please don't waste time or insult inteligence by including events like the shoe, underwear, & t-square bombers)

I believe you're going to struggle finding much of significance, so I'll allow you the sting ops, like the recent christmas tree bomber
(even though those are technically entrapment).

I'll even let you slide on the ones where something smells very fishy, like the UPS toner cartridges... (lol)

And what about the Fort Hood shooting 11/09- why didn't the FC/FBI/DHS have the military's "back" when THAT ball was dropped?

I guess I'll have to accept that, though I can't imagine "Big Brother" ever missing a chance to brag about thwarting terror, regardless of significance.

As for opposing HR 3162, that one hits very close to home. I've actually been threatened with it while participating in a federal wildlife investigation
a little while back. It's a long story- basically they wanted to make sure I wasn't going to tip off a couple of perps after refusing to help gather more
evidence against them. Made me feel like I had made a huge mistake ever volunteering to help LE in the first place.

Once you start the screening process you must complete it. Refusing and attempting to leave (as in saying "screw it I'll drive rather than fly") you can be arrested, fines can be as high as $2K and charged under provisions of the (un)Patriot Act.

The DHS & the TSA are out of control.
