August 21, 2006

In cooperation with our UFWDA Individual member Dan Wagman, PhD, publisher and editor in chief of Journal of Pure Power (www.jopp.us), a form letter has been prepared to help save 4x4 roads and trails in the Pike-San Isabel National Forest. Dr. Wagman, principal author of the letter, utilized the techniques and language I suggested for OHV Route Designation letters in the latest edition of the Voice. He has done an exceptional job of adding local specifics about roads missing or closed on the forest map.

Dan contacted half a dozen 4x4 shops in the areas where these important 4x4 roads and trails are located so the form letter can reach interested four wheel drive enthusiasts on the ground! What a great idea and great job.

Please take a moment to utilize the form letter and send it to the Forest Service in CO. The deadline on the letter is a self-imposed deadline by UFWDA so we can ensure our comments and our voice get the best attention BEFORE the NEPA process starts. If we wait until the first notice comes out we’ve waited too long!

And please take a moment to look it over and see what you can do in your area to make a difference. If you need help please let me know.

Let your UFWDA membership work for you!

The letter is posted on the UFWDA website at http://www.ufwda.org. Click on the “ALERT” on the left-hand menu.

Thank you.
