i was wondering the same, thanks for clarifying the cult status of these vehicles, anyone paying that scratch for an old heep is clearly mad.

Yeah try to find a clean CJ-5 or CJ-7 for that price... Too many were cut up into rock buggies.. So the remainders are worth more these days..

To me, it's a damn nice Jeep, but still a Jeep. I'm not gonna pay 15k for a 25 yr old Jeep. However, since that is the market price (or thereabouts), I wish your step-dad best of luck on finding someone who is willing to pay that for it. It is a very nice looking Scrambler.

Another way to look at is how cool is it would be driving a clean classic jeep around for, lets say another 10 years, and be able to sell it at that time for 15-20K.
Spend that same amount on any late model jeep, car, or truck, and it'll depreciate as you drive it down the street.
