Is the check engine light on??? How much without grill and bumper??? 231 tc? Is the part between the steering wheel and dash broke?

Yeah, the check engine light is on. It went off during the winter when it was really cold out and would come back on when it warmed up. but oil pressure and engine temp all run normal at all times. probably be a dumb ? but what is 231 tc? and no its not broke i have have the steering wheel down, and I have a grill on the way, should be here in the next couple of days and the bummper is about 180 new, i just dont have the extra cash around for it, so $2000 flat.

Alright so I looked and its 231tc.

$2000 is not a bad price for a '00 XJ, but the miles are very high. Towing a Jeep does not record miles on the odometer, so it actually has even more miles on the axles and suspension. I suggest you get a bumper and fix the CEL and it should sell. Good luck and here's a bump for ya.
