Front Caliper Upgrade

Wolze I think you are refering to the cross drilled roters, and the cracking. I haven,t heard anything on the slotted roters cracking, but I guess if you buy cheep ones you might have the same problem. In my opinion as long as you buy a known good quality brand you shouldn't have any problems with them, and if you do they will be more willing to make it right.

Yep, typo. I meant cross-drilled.

Talk to the folks at Baer Brake in PHX.

Does Baer make bolt on for the D30 axle????

Dunno.

But if anyone does, or can, its them. I think they do list something for XJ but not sure what. Like I said, give 'em a buzz, and let us know.

Retrofitting some other junk brakes will only give you another brand of junk, maybe better than stock XJ junk, but still junk. Baer looks to have some serious brake systems, if you can seperate the cosmetic-only upgrades from the real binders. Otherwise start talking to Brembo.

Baer looks like some good stuff. They are selling kits for SUV's with 14 inch rotors. You WILL notice a huge difference in your braking with those, and might also expect a huge difference in your wallet! AND, you need 18" wheels or bigger to fit them! hmmmm I'm not thinking you can go much bigger than 12 or 12.5 inch rotors inside 16's, something smaller for 15 inch wheels. I've got the 16's partly because the brakes were on my mind when I was looking to buy. Anybody know how big our stock rotors are?

I guess I will try the rotor and pad upgrade with ss lines up front. If thats not up to par, then maybe try the rear disc conversion. Any sugestions on brand of flex lines/hoses? Thanks to all for the help. I want to get my brakes up to the level of a sports car, and keep my 15" wheels. Anyone think that this is realistic?
NO!

Not a chance.

You can do it w/o spending to much money but nothing will bolt right on at all. Look at a set up off of a volvo 740 2 pistion calapers at all 4 corners and about the bigest rotors u will ever fit under a 15 inch wheel 11.25.
