Front axle upgrade

I am looking for any links to a good front axle upgrade for the 86 xj. I think the d30 will be too weak for the tires, lift and motor I am gonna be running so I was hoping someone had info on a good d44 candidate. I am sticking a 8.8 in the rear and just need to decide on a direction for the front.

What are your plans for the Jeep? Tire size, lift...ect.

Yeah I went to thier site I was hoping for more of a junkyard solution though. I dont really think thier stuff is in in my budget :laugh3:.

My plans as of right now are 35's. 6" lift +/-, 4.3 tbi, 700r4, 231hd, 8.8 rear probably 4.56 gears. I am just getting ideas now so if somethhing works better great, I am new to the xj's and have just picked up the ideas from browsing the web. I run 38.5 tsl's with 4.3 tbi, th350, d300 and scout d44's w/4.10 gears (yeah I know these need to change) in my cj and in really dont have any issues, however I know that every model is a different animal.

What about a solid axle Ford D-44. Its a pretty popular swap, and parts are easy to find....
Heck, look behind half your neighbors houses out there and you will find D-44's Look behind the other half, and you'll find whatever Chevy stuffed in the front.

waggy 44 would be a good choice with ford knuckles (to make it a 5x5.5 bolt pattern) 8.8 in the rear with 5x5.5 adapters would be a sweet part for your set up I think TnT and RE make weld on kits for the 44 not to mention the aftermarket for both. just my .02

Actually, I've got a set of wheels for 6-lugs laying in my parts pile. (15x8, or 15x8.5 can't remember which)

I was thinking about the solid axle swap from the ford, I believe I read the 76 + axles are the best for this swap (tell me if I'm wrong), but I was hoping someone had some actual experiance using the Ford axles. I don't mind using adapters to get the same bolt pattern but I really want to stay away from custom shafts:thumbdn: .

Oh and my neighbor has a scout stuffed behing his house:eyes: , I am just waitin for the right project to grab it :)

I have a D44 out of a ferd, free for the taking....

free is good sean what year is it and do you happen to know the wms to wms and is it complete? i am trying to find one that will match up to the 8.8 that I am going to put in the rear. I am close enough (Davis Junction) I could come and pick it up anytime you wanted.
