i have a 91 xj with a d30 and d35, and since it's a 5 speed, the gearing is like 3.05 or something like that. I'm running 31's and it's murder on the highway, i have to shift into 3rd just to clear a hill at highway speeds. also, it sucks for wheeling, 4 high is useless and i have to slip the clutch in 4 low half the time.
Not to mention i'm open/open.
So rather than put gears and an lsd or locker in these weaker axles, i figured it might be a good time to step up to a d44 or something. Open to suggestions.
This is more of a feeler, but if it's something i'm looking for, i may consider grabbing it right now.
I'm thinking 3.73's but again, open to suggestions. Ideally both front and rear would have the right gearing and lockers or at least an lsd.
My intentions are keeping the truck fairly as-is, maybe some suspension work but probably not much more lift (4") and the tires will probably stay for a while. It's my off road rig, i have a daily driver, but with that said, i woul like to drive it 100-200 miles without pinging 3k the whole time. right now it's at 2k on the highway.
