fresno area camping?

anybody have any suggestions for a quick overnight spot that will be open around the 1st of may. I am looking to take my cousin and his son. I was thinking of going up towards dinkey but am thinking it may not be open. I am hoping to find a spot with near a creek, any ideas?

Hume Lake. Mill Flat and camp 4 1/2 on the Kings River above Pine Flat are open. Bretz Mill, above Toll House, on Big Creek. Blackrock Lake might be open.
Haven't made it up to Dinkey area yet this year as the forest routes are still closed. I always seem to go into that area via the back country routes and come home via 168 and 99
