Like it says.. I am offering up a FREE Jeep Comanche*.

Deal is.. it's a Mostly complete Comanche. By mostly I mean it's about 5/8ths of the cab and everything forward. It's all in "acceptable" shape.

4 cyl motor (runs fine)
2WD
White maroon interior. Also all there and in "rough" shape.
5 speed (which works fine, with the exception that the drive wheels don't exist.)

Body is decent.

Located in Templeton, Mass.

Give me a shout if you are so inclined.

So, no bed, no cab rear wall, no rear axle? Does it have a title? How's the frame? Might be a good platform for a buggy, Cheromanche or Cheroburban.

Lawn Cher,

I would tend to disagree.. Unless you have a bit of a death wish (as it appears *I* do ;) ) This machine is good about only for parts.

When I say "half" I mean it litterally. Take where you sit in the seat. Now go to about your thigh area, now imagine that EVERYTHING behind that section is gone. As in GONE, and will be attached to a Cherokee soon, creating a TRUE Cheromanche.

So, could you build something out of what I have left? Sure. Would any sane person? No.. I think not.

I am curious though.. what would be a Cheroburban??

Oh.. and the frame is really quite nice.. and will remain that way while it attaches itself to my other Cherokee!

No title. Makes my insurance WAY cheaper to register the new rig as an 8X Cheromanche instead of a 98 Cherokee.. which is the basis of the rig.

Oh, I see. I didn't realize you had cut the rear of the frame off. It's pretty much useless now. I made a longbed trailer that way, but I was thinking of using a swb MJ to make another project out of. If you stretch a XJ to fill the length of a MJ, Cherotahoe on a swb and Cheroburban on a lwb is what you get by keeping it a station wagon body style.

I'm curious about your splice when its done... I was thinking of doing a Cheromanche that way, or possibly keeping the MJ chassis intact and splicing the back door section of the XJ between the B pillar and the bulkhead of the MJ cab, with a shortened bed accordingly. A better name... Chummer.

Interesting other projects.. but they require too much body work for me to be interested. I kinda thought along those lines to make my Cheromanche, but decided against it. Too much work. Plus I don't need a longer body. In fact I don't even want the 4 full doors. I really wanted 2 full doors and 2 half doors. But again, this was the easiest and fastest route I could come up with. And again, required the least body work.

At this point, I am cutting about 1/2" behind the farthest back point of the rear door. Which happens to be just below the door handle. From there I am going straight up and around. From this I'll attach the very back of the Comanche cab (about 3-4" of it), weld, patch up the holes and fix the floor somehow and weld/brace the frame. And ta-daa.. I'm done. In theory.
