I have seen this covered to some degree, but to the best of my understanding it was resi 2.0s vs bilstein 5150s

what about non resis? Is a non reservoir 2.0 fox shock superior to the 5150 in terms of performance? i definitely understand the rebuildability of the unit which is a huge plus, but would i see a potential performance loss due to the loss of the small piggyback resi? Or are the Fox's just that sweet?

Sorry for the newbish question guys, but I have an opportunity to compliment my new front resi foxes with rear non resis, or i could just run my 5150s in the back as-is

the reservoir itself doesnt make or break any shock, i challenge you to feel a differance between a fox 2.0 emulsion, and a fox2.0 remote reservoir, valved identically.

put it this way, ANYTHING fox makes that'll fit an xj, is rebuildable.
a 5150 is NOT rebuildable.

i guess i meant more or less longevity-wise during a run, not so much just the quality of it workin. fade resistance i guess. also i'd like my rear shocks to be similar in performance to my fronts, whether that be over time (with the fade and such) or just in general

you do make a good point, however.

If your experiencing shock fade, out east, your hauling some serious ass!
i also think a lot of shock mfg/offroad company's are trying to push RR shocks on people who dont need em. its the new fad, and people buy it hook line and sinker.

i'd run the emulsions, if in doubt. theyre pretty cheap

you could try mashing really hard, and see if you can get your existing shocks to get hot to the touch, ive never felt mine that hot, and i like driving fast in the desert (but i do take smoke breaks, no racing here)

thanks for the input man, i appreciate it.

not really worried about fadin out my foxes/bilsteins haha...guess im just overstating for the sake of comparison. this certainly wont be a racer. i am filming a lot of ultra4 racing events here on the east coast, and i want my XJ to be able to get around at speed with the racers from point to point at least, so im outfitting the jeep out as logically as i can.

oh and...i like having fun with it too, haha
