Ok so i got a set of fox shocks and started reading every post about them. With no luck i couldnt find any common shock valving numbers you all run on you dd/gofast/family rigs. So what are you runing front to rear? And whats your charge pressur? Whos oil is best fox , king exc. Thinks for the replies

shock oil is shock oil..... charge pressure is factory set.... i know its common knowledge that nitrogen psi changes shock valving... but starting here is an exercise in futility.... get the valving where you want with 200psi, as per fox.

IF YOU MUST make small adjustments... think -+50psi.

hydraulic shocks dont work under differant pricipals because they were made by bilstein... and i assure you fox doesnt use Skydrol in their shock absorbers... (and therefore use special seals designed for skydrol)

last time i rebuilt my foxes, i used Eneos motorcycle shock oil.. true i paid more than what a gallon of fox oil from polyperf wouldve cost.... but i had it in half an hour.

im running 55/45 10 inch with res in the front with RE 5.5 coils, i had 20/40( the way they come off the shelf from fox) on my 12 inch shocks which i had in the front but i ordered the 10 inch shocks and plan on moveing the lower shock mounts too the lca and the 12 inch too the back after it gets caged. 20/40 was way too soft and you will bottom them out unless you have long enough coils and have the correct shock mounts.

shock valving rates should have nothing to do with 'bottoming them out'. thats MOUNTING AND BUMPSTOPS. i could completely remove the valving from my shocks, and they wouldnt bottom out....

Talked to fox thay told me start with 40/90 and 200 i have 32/45 now with 200so iam thinking of going with 45/90 and 200 since i have 4 seats and all the stuff you need like tools and beer a big cooler full of beer oh yah thats fore camp . What you think

There is a guy named mark who works at fox who is the guy to talk to. He has a 6 inch lifted XJ "BDS kit" and he has messed with valving on his truck quite a bit. He is running 30/80 in the rear with 2.0 fox resi shocks. In the front he has the CD adjustable foxes so I can't give you a number for his compression stack but his rebound is at 75. My front is at 90 on rebound right now and it's to much, 75 is what I am going to try next. In the rear I am at 40/60 and it rides great but I think it could be improved. Not sure what it needs yet since I just put them on.

Ok so i was told by a friend of mine that shock oil is just 5 weight hydraulic oil with anti foaming additives. He also told me that on a shock dino with two of the same shocks with the same valving and nitrogen charge ,the oil analyses cam back that king oil hade broken down less than the fox by 35% so i dont think that one is better than the other. Becides fox, king, fao, bilstine and all the other top supplyers want you too run thair name its called free advertisement. Thats what i came up true? False? I think iam going with the best price.

O yah are you mesuring eye to eye or body or shaft travel to get your shock length

Shocks are classified by travel, and have an extended and compressed length as measured eye-eye centerline. Take a king, SAW, FOX and they will all have a slightly different extended/compressed length for a given travel.
