Folsom Lake wheeling...Sunday?

Thinking of trying out Folsom Lake this Sunday about 10am. Not sure if that is even an official wheeling location, but I keep hearing about it (Grizzly Flat) and will check it out this Sunday, Feb 13. Knowing me I'll get thrown in the pokey.

If anyone knows about this, please post up. I'd rather not go back to Prairie City until they open up the larger area.

I was there last summer and they almost kicked me. I was driving out to an island and had water a few inches below my windows. It really isnt anything radical. Its nice to bring your jeep during the summer because theres more exposed land, but I wont go again to wheel. I had some guys come over and tell me that they used to wheel there all the time back in the day, but if they catch you now you get in trouble.

Thanks, Chris. I actually found your post after I wrote that. Maybe I'll stay home and lube my drive shaft or something.

lube...driveshafts... ha

yeah i've farted around folsom lake before. there's some spots you can drive and some not, its tough to tell as there's little to no markings. I wouldn't risk going out there just to wheel, if your going out to the lake for a day then its impossidble not to scratch the itch but be weary and don't make it to obvious.

Is there still no snow in the mountains? I wanna go wheelin! Sunday would work for me.

What do you think strawberry looks like?

Strawberry should still have snow, considering there was still some piles of it during the 2010 Sierra Fest back in July. I'm sure there's snow, despite the warmer weather.

I was looking for a short trip that day. I've got peeps coming over for a crab boil party and need to get back in time for beer and driveshaft lubin'.

you can cruise around Folsom..maybe some donuts or whatever..but yes...if they see you they will get you with a ticket....the signs only say no "mud bogging" and most of the trails around rattlesnake are fun :)
lots of rutty stuff to get all twisty in..rattlesnake bar is where i would go to "cruise" around.

they don't mind you goin up the rutty hills and stuff stuff, just stay out of the mud and your good...its all about not being dumb and rowdy out there. crusing is more the word i would use...not "wheelin" :)

theres actually a trail that you can take from auburn-folsom road if anyone is interested... that you can get all twisted up in and there are certain trails you can follow to reach the backside of folsom lake if youre interested... coming from douglas heading towads folsom lake just turn left on auburn-folsom road and follow for a few miles then turn right on lomida, youre gonna follow that down till you see the park on the right then youre gonna turn right at the very next street on the right its a dead end just make a left before the yellow gate and follow it back in to the trails and its a fun filled day.

is it legit or will you get a ticket or go to jail if you get caught?

so far i have had no problems out there its just usually some people from around the area riding atvs, mountain bikes, walking or jogging the trails but its a fun trail and pretty deep for any stock vehicle really to get back in the good areas... im thinking about going tomorrow and might have a couple other rigs. theres not any no trespassing signs out there either so as i can tell its legit or theyd post otherwise... plus that trail has some nice spots to just stop and kickback for a little if you want to. also if you guys are going out there let me know what time youre planning on going and ill try to get out there itd be a good day of wheelin especially after this rain just stopped
