Anyone know anything about the flow daddy stainless header? Looks decent and under $300. I'm looking for a quality header for 2000 cherokee.

Best sounding? I have no idea 'cause I've only heard the sound of my Borla and I like it. The best performing and probably the best looking IMO is the Clifford Performance dual outlet header.

Re: flow daddy header cherokee xj

Wow these are hard to install. I have a 2001 cherokee. Bought them on sell for 230 at rusty's. I had to remove the pre cats and there is about a 1/2" to tighten the lower 4 bolts. Almost impossible. They look pretty good, but the instructions are little or no help. I'm excited to install the pre cats and weld the pipe back together and see how they work. Took me about 9 hours to get almost installed.

i have one on my 2000, very good quality item. Direct fit.
very deep v8 like sound, noticeable improvement in torque below 3000rpm and slight improvement in fuel economy.

It will be a pain to install though.

I had to remove the pre cats. I then installed the header and intake manifold and tightened all the way. Then i was able to torque the pre cats to the headers. after that i welded the lower part to the exhaust. No more exhaust leak. I will post if i notice any improvement or decrease in mpg and power.

Also i removed the fuel line from the fuel rail but did not remove the injectors or electric bus i was able to move it out of the way.

sound clips are always welcome  i have a banks torque tube and am curouse if there is a sound difference. (yes im aware that mufflers will also play a factor)

I have not really had the chance to drive my jeep with the headers installed. Right after i installed the headers my pcm quit. I ordered one from http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/ good service. My cylinder #1 was not getting power. I replaced the spark plug, injector, then used a noid light and it looked like the pcm so i replaced today and it is running great. I'm looking forward to running a full tank of gas to see if there is any change.

For the Clifford header with 8" shooters to the ground, imagine a straight piped big V-Twin sound that is twice as loud. That's about the best I can describe a buddy of mine might have a vid of it while I was breaking in my motor. I couldn't even stand over the motor either it thumped so loud and hard. The 4.7 9.7:1 helps with loud and thud but it should sound similar but quieter and a little more droney probably with regular 4.0L.

I'd be inclined to say that most of the gains from the APN header are masked by the stock downpipe. I didn't notice a huge bump, but I could hear the individual cylinders a little more distinctly in the exhaust note so to speak. I think with a larger downpipe upgraded exhaust it might be good for 5-10 hp.

For future reference: those that installed flow daddies on '00-01s, does it appear that the primaries are bigger diameter than the stock manifolds? When people opt to use 0630s and 7120s when they throw away the cracked 0331s, we need to be able to give advice what to do with the exhaust and the above header could be a good solution if it can cover the larger ports of the earlier heads(cheaper alternative to the Borla, which is also a solution).

I don't know. At this point i really like the flow daddy headers. Sounds nice and has better power and response. I think a little lower mpg though.

I have a 97. If I swap in a 00-01 Intake mani., which I have read is much better.

I should be able to use 00-01 flowdaddy headers with no problems, right?

Do y'all think it would be worth it?

Yes, use the header for the head/vehicle. You may have to do some slight clearancing on the intake though, but that is common. The 00+ header won't mate with your down pipe and there are many other headers for your 1997. There is no reason not to use the 00+ intake manifold.

Yes, I am in Radford and graduated from RU.
