I want to mount something to the area indicated by the red square on my '99 XJ. (What I want to mount isn't relevant to my question, but since someone's bound to ask, it's a grounding bus.) It's obvious from the bolts that something is mounted under the dash on the other side of the panel, and I'm reluctant to run a drill bit or a self-tapper through there without knowing if I'll damage something. Can anyone tell me what's behind that spot and if there is any space between it and the sheet metal? Has anyone tried to mount something there and regretted drilling into it? Thanks.
