Just got the latest update installed and you know when it installs, it takes to you the mozilla homepage. Well I decided to see what new add-ons were available.
I downloaded these and so far I'm lovin' em.
Cooliris
Piclens
AllPeer Beta
Clipmarks
ForecastFOX
StumbleUpon (for the times of boredom)
Tab Mix Plus
And FoxyTunes (because I always have music playing)

I have had Foxytunes and forcastFOX for going on six months now love em both. ForecastFOX makes checking daily weather before I leave every morn so simple (I don't have cable TV anymore).

Are there any other add-ons to recommend?

This is something that I just do *NOT* understand. I don't load my boxes down with plugins, add-ons, etc. Aside from Flash (under protest, BTW,) I don't think I've got anything extra for Firefox. And practically nothing else on the basic box either.

x2

Why would you want your task bar on your second monitor. I keep my taskbar to the main display and keep all my second monitor's pixely goodness for something worthwhile(such as den threads:shhh:).

I only have my talk bar on one monitor..... Running in EXTDESK I can play a game and surf/talk over trillian without tab closing any apps. I can watch full screen, double screen, single screen movies. The addon's for firefox just make things easier IMO. Take foxytunes. Since I have near 300 gigs of music, I have it loaded into pre-set playlists. Now when I want to change a song, stop/play or do whatever, I don't have to minimize anything (I have Firefox set to ALWAYS be top frame)
Take clipmarks also. If I run across a neat article or pic, instead of linking it, i can cut/copy EXACTLY what I want from that webpage without distorting anything, then post it as a readable pic for anyone else sans all the garbage porn links and adverts normally associated with linking a URL.
Makes things easier. While I tend to agree, simple is best, but also why not use improvements. My desktop/ browser may seem cluttered, but I can hide everything with one click to tidy things up.
Anyways, my shpeal is over, just thought I would toss em out there for anyone looking for some good add-ons.

I don't use many add-ons, but like "downthemall" which is good for bagging large quantities of files from a website. It adds itself to the right click menu. Also, for image viewing, there's a nice one called "image zoom" which allows you to zoom in on images with a right-click, without having to download them or use external programs, and one called "exif viewer" which allows you to check the EXIF data of at least some images (that stuff like date, shutter speed, color info, etc. saved by digital cameras), also added to the right-click menu.

IE View for those very few pages that don't like firefox

Download Status Bar - Shows download progress in small bar at bottom of screen

FireFtp - Access to School drives

Google Toolbar for Firefox - replaces standard search with a google box, spell check, auto form fill and highlighter (there are a lot more functions but I don't use them, just the basics.)

Gmail Manager - Checks my two gmail accounts and displays new mail icon in the bottom status bar, very minimal and simple.
No Script - Don't remember what it does fixed some problem I ahd with Java though.

Snipshot - Just added this one, allows you do edit an online pics pretty easily, handy for cropping, resizing, rotating if you don't have photo software (work for me).

I've tried a bunch:
Foxy tunes was one of them, quit using it though. Worked ok but control seems to lag a bit and didn't use it that much.
Don't really care about weather much anymore, I have a window or the forecast in my gmail homepage if I want a heads up.
I also have some download them all and video capture deals but I don't think I've ever use them.

The coolest plugin I have found lately is not for Firefox but called quicknote. It's installed on your desktop and basicly an electronic sticky pad or quick note pad. It is minimized to a small square(you cna change the size) on the side of your screen, roll the mouse over it and the notes pop up. Use it at work all the itme and way easier to find misc notes and better then having a billion stickys all over the place.

I like the spell check feature (don't use it much, but I like it) - but has anyone found a way to "teach" the dictionaries? I usually have to teach spellcheckers anything technical (I spend the first six months teaching Word, for instance...) and I haven't found a way to do that in FireFox yet - even pillaging around on their dictionary page...

if your not using adblock with filerset G... your missing out.... it basically makes any image blockable....

so for example those with lame ass avatars that annoy me, get blocked....
banner ads, etc....

also, for security reasons, i also run noscript, which blocks scripts launched by domains unless you let them run

I will definitely check those out.

Found out by accident - you don't need the Google toolbar (which I didn't want anyhow.)

Forgot what application I was in while I was switching around, and found out you can right-click on a word that it thinks is wrong and teach it otherwise. Nice...

Ya i saw those new links n stuff they added with the new firefox. I downloaded a new theme and some download progress bar thingy. I love it, i changed my homepage to the black google so now its suuuppperr cool lol.

I don't put anything I don't need on my PC . It's all got spy/adware .

found another cool add-on... 2 if you use windows... cooliris & pic lens...

cooliris lets you mouse over a link then a little icon pops up, mouse over it and a window will open letting you preview the link before you click it...

piclens turns pages with lots of photos like a google image search into a slideshow of the pictures on the page...

That's why there are options/settings/plugins. Some people like the plug-in's....some don't. No need to worry about someone else's preferences...set yours the way you like it, and be happy :)

Which is where Netscape (since the AOHell buyout) and MSIE are missing the boat - I don't want better than half of that crap they're loaded with anymore. Too much overhead.

Now, if we can just convince people who write sites and interactions that not everyone uses Micro$oft bugware, we'd be in good shape. I can handle losing a few "features" in favour of efficiency... And not having to use software that just doesn't work for me.
