Finishing my garage

so last week we started the process of redoing our garage. its cold as all get out so working in the garage with no insulation and poor lighting is no bueno. its a condo but thankfully ive got a standard two car garage which is hard to find. the garage has a newly build attic space above and had some ugly but functional wooden shelving on one side wall. i wanted a warmer space to work with better lighting and she wanted something prettier haha. its about a day away from being ready to paint as its cold and taking forever for the mud to dry. been sitting there since thursday but ive been out of town so i havent been able to run my portable heater much. ill be doing that tonight so it can be finished for sure.

I had two light fixtures with single bulbs that before i had just put 150w bulbs in to brighten it up and it helped, but wasnt up to par by any means. It was cold so we put in some good insulation nbehind the new walls too. I found some build your own pieces from lowes that im going to use. Most of it will be in this style as i like the look as well as the price of the pieces. I dont have a ton of room to put the storage so im going to make the most of what I can. Ive got the two light fixtures replaced with outlets so I can hang some shop style lighting to really make it as bright as possible. Im painting the walls white with a two color stripe going around at about chair height in packers green and yellow :D When spring comes around im going to get the floor done and im leaning towards armor garage as my choice for the "paint" or might use their tiles. not sure yet. needs to be much warmer before I do it so ive got plenty of time haha. i need to make the most out of my space so I can work and get both cars in the garage. thankfully the jeep is not my dd so I can work on it and leave it parts if necessary, but I still need to make sure both vehicles can come in at the end of the night.

heres a small shot of the old storage on the wall. its all i had before. cant wait to get the new stuff in.

i spot 2 very very wrong things...no workbenches or tool boxes, and theers a german car in your garage

when i get all the storage in there will be for sure. hahah and yeah but it handles fantastic, has a good warranty, and has a 6 speed :) plus its way nicer than the jeep inside haha.

sweet! I know having a warm place to work is nice....

im from Texas, I dont like to work in the cold! haha. im ready for it to be finished so I can work in the warmth. right now i just cant do too much but soon i will. i already notice a difference in the temp in the mornings inside.

im actually going to go ahead and get these storage units(and an identical style but slightly smaller one) and these cabinets. along with one of these. They are a bit cheaper and dont scratch up like the other gladiator ones. They make some hanging cabinets too, but I dont know if im gonna need that much storage at first. we'll see.

the future plans for the garage are really to make it my den. as stated before, will be getting a green/yellow stripe around the wall at chair height, packers memorabilia will go up too. got my first sign for xmas to start the process. also putting in our current 42" tv on the wall and running cable to it, while replacing the house tv. more than likely ill go with a painted floor and not the armor tiles, as thats 1700 roughly where painting is maybe 300. even if i have to redo it in 2 years, ill be happy to and not spend so much on the floor haha. should be picking up the storage soon, when i find the time, and then paint for the walls and floor when it warms up!
