Favorable experience with Ridgid warranty

Just thought I'd pass along my brief warranty experience with Ridgid. I bought a Ridgid combo January of 2011 that came with a drill and reciprocating saw as well as 2 batteries and a charger for $199 from Home Depot. The main reason I bought the Ridgid brand was their claim of having a lifetime warranty even on batteries.

I use both the drill and the saw on a reasonable basis...not in a commercial atmosphere, but around the house and working on my Jeeps. I also brought the tools inside over the winter vs leaving them in the garage exposed to the cold to prolong the life of the batteries. At any rate, 15 months later both batteries won't hold a charge long enough to drill a single hole or cut a small plank of wood, so I called Ridgid, they pulled up my info from when I registered the tools online and directed me to the closest service center which happened to be the home depot down the street from my house. Super easy process...the guy at home depot looked up my info, printed up all the appropriate paperwork, and told me he'd call me the next day to tell me whether he had to order the batteries or not, so by noon the next day he called me to pick up my batteries. Showed up yesterday and left with 2 brand new batteries no cost to me.

So kudos to Ridgid for standing behind their product and warranty.

wow, now that is awsome. i am totally surprised ridgid has a lifetime warranty on the batteries. that alone would make me want to buy their products. i can not tell you how many battery powered tools i have purchased through the years that the batteries needed replacement within a years use. (i used them every day). the replacement batteries where almost as expensive as the tool WITH new batteries. so basically it was more economical to just buy a new tool package.

I too have had a good experience with Ridgid battery tools. I bought my set in 2003, they've replaced batteries, chucks, triggers, chargers, plus a few other parts, several times.
Been a pretty good set. BTW this is in a commercial environment.

It's funny because when I first called Home Depot to inquire about obtaining my warranty the guy on the phone immediately said "no batteries are warrantied". I responded with "Ridgid warranties their batteries, that's why I bought their product...trust me, the signage is all over your store"...he said "ok, if you say so"...pretty much thinking I was making it up.

I only wish I could've gone back to the same Home Depot I called just so I could point it out to the guy somehow.
