extra reverse lights

today ive been working on wiring up an extra set of reverse lights that will come on when i put the trans in reverse (5 speed), or with a switch. they are on a relay and i simply tapped into the reverse lights with 1 wire to activate the relay when the reverse lights come on, and there is another wire tied in with those that comes from the switch that turns on the factory reverse lights and the aftermarkets. My only problem is that when I turn on the lights with the switch with the trans in reverse while the key is off, I am getting feedback to my fuel pump, and am afraid i may not be able to turn the vehicle off if in reverse while switch is on. Ive googled and searched this forum and radioshack with no luck. All help appreciated. And sorry for the book of a post

i was gonna do this in november, mine just come on when i put it in reverse(5 speed) i have custom tail light boxes so my backup lights are already under the bumper... i have been pondering it over and i think you will need 2 relays. 1 from the switch, and one from the stock lights. i personally would say XXXX the stock shit lights and run the stock reverse power wire into a relay! then set up another relay from the switch and have both of the wires from the 87 plug on the relay going to your lights.

if this doesnt make any sence pm me and i'll try and explain it better
