extending the front

i'm putting my good control arms on probably this weekend when i have time to work on my jeep. and i have a simple question and no one in the tech forum gave me an answer. i have a set of extended uppers ( an 1" ) and i dont know how much longer my lowers need to be.

and yea thats about it, i think

Longer control arms are needed when you lift a vehicle. The length depends on how much the lift is. How much is your rig lifted?

I've used this in the past. Are you making them adjustable?

The uppers are two stock arms welded to boxed steel. The lowers are adjustable, I need to measure the uppers to find out forsure if there an inch longer.

But according to your math my lowers need to be 17 3/4th", I wonder if my lowers extend that much.

measured my uppers and there 16 1/2" long from eye to eye. so my lowers need to be 18 1/4th according to the chart.

Ummmmmmm. What size lift are you gonna run. Moving the axle foward will let ALOT of things hit each other if you are not careful. For the axle to sit right with that size arm it needs to sit on about 9" of lift. Great for a mallcrawler not so great for anything else

there is my problem, the uppers i have aren't adjustable. and i need to do something about my rusty's uppers the bushings don't exist anymore.

hmmm, well poo. i might just have to run them anyways, i dont have many other options except for getting less lift.

Then get less lift.......Its far better then having everything bind and cause an accident or worse..

Take the rustys uppers down to Oreilly's. There are replacement bushings out there. They may be two piece bushings but they will last a while and will get you back on the road. Just tell the OLD parts guy that you need bushings to fit the arms and then set it on the counter. You'll find something.
