Extended front brake line, mounted to arms

Has anyone ran the front brake lines on the control arms?

I have a long-arm on my Master Jeep (MJ). I was thinking of running new hard line to where the control arm mounts to the frame. then use a short soft line on that joint. then run hard line down the arm. then soft line to the wheel. Has anyone done something like that?

I'd just run them like this:

Thanks man.

I already have longer hoses installed. I thought it was fine, till I did some test flexing with jacks. And it'll flex even more on a trail. The longer hoses are the current limit on down travel.

I can get longer ones, but, then they will coil and maybe tangle.

Thanks

I wouldn't run them down the control arm. You'd be putting a lot of flex onto a short length of hose, adding unnecessary complexity to the routing, putting your brake line lower on the suspension than needed, etc.
It's worth it to measure out the needed length & get lines (in the OE location) at that length. Zip-tie loosely as needed for routing.
Really, though, most XJ's stay at 8" travel - which means whatever height you've got it, the brake line only needs to be that much longer to stay safe.

Lots of folks have had good success with exactly what you're talking about.

Mine are in the factory location, and have worked just fine for me.

I'd put longer brake lines on your short list - having them be the limit of the flex isn't a good choice.

There is a notion of using off the shelf parts, or not going so custom that it later bites you, but if you have long enough hoses that flex right, you should get years of service out of them no matter how they are routed.

Thanks.

I agree, I dont want to over complicate the brake lines. I always like to keep it simple. I think having a hose at the frame connection pivot point for the long arm, will encounter less flex, then a hose at the axle. 6" of movement at the the wheel, will be less then 2" (if that), at the pivot point. Small road vibrations should be very minor at the joint.

Brake system is very important, dont want to risk issues.

On a side idea, Ive read where some one ran one line down to the front axle, and split that to each tire. Like how its done on most rear axles. There is a safety issue with that.

I found this, looks factory.

There is only 1 front output on the master cylinder, there is a "tee" somewhere in the system. At the frame, or on the axle, either one is viable.

You are correct. The "TEE" is the combination valve.
