Experience w/ Land Rovers?

it seemed as if the air suspension on ALL of them didn't work! and that is a GIGANTIC repair cost.

Dookie, the air suspension is only found under the Range Rovers, not the Discovery. A LOT of the Range Rovers ended up in junk yards because the fix for the air suspension was more $$$ than the Rovers were worth.

Even a change to coils is not cheap on the Range Rover.

The Discovery was Land Rover's attempt at a soccer mom SUV. Their hardcore offroad machine, the Defender, has not been sold in the US since about 1996.

I'm British and i wouldn't have one if you paid me (and Grant, i've driven everything from Series II to range rovers!). I find the quality and reliablity in Jeeps SO much better.

Over here you can't drive 3 blocks without finding a place that can fix or sell parts to fix a Land Rover, just like Jeep in the US. But switch the countries around and then look for parts/service. Try looking for Land Rover parts in Autozone, or Jeep parts in Halfords (offically Jeep imports started here in '94, try telling the "dude" behind the counter you have a '91...). Parts and service cost more, like it or not. So i like the fact that i own a car (OK, 3 cars!) that i can depend on.

Also, my other problem is LR owners/clubs in general (sorry Grant). Never met a more insular group of people in my life! Both in the US and here. Even Harley clubs are more welcome and open to outsiders than LROC's. Bugs the s**t out of me how separetist (sp) they are.

i know... i was speaking more to the reliability of the LR nameplate in general. i have little experience with the disco specifically. i certainly don't profess to be an expert in the matter - just relaying some observations!
