Exhaust shops in the South Bay area

Anyone have any exhaust shops they like in the south bay?

My xj needs a new cat.

I found a couple of shops in Sunnyvale for around 250$ but thats a bit rich for my blood. Although it looks like a CA catalytic converter is 170$ from napa and not having a welder...

Does the state care what sort of cat is on a renix era rig?

I don't remember if the smog guy checked for mine last time I got mine smogged. I guess I'm mostly worried about getting a not ca legal catalytic converter and then failing the inspection or something.

I think at this point I'm going to go the universal cat method... anyone with a welder want to trade beer for welding up a cat?

Try calling Sounds of Speed in Santa Clara, Jon and Mitch are great guys. If you end up having your work done there tell them Alex with the white Cherokee sent you there.

FYI I'd call them and see how much they want for parts and labor. Also ask how much to weld it on if you brought them the cat, tell them you'll give them cash, maybe they'll help you out.
