Exhaust is too loud -- What should I do?

Thought I'd bring back this excellent thread with a question: Does it make any difference whether the resonator is in front or back of the muffer?

I plan to copy Tetsulo's setup using a MAC FlowPath and a 12" resonator, when the weather gets warmer.

Tetsulo, how do you like the sound after living with it a few months?

That's what I'm looking for, a unique sound that's not loud.....
:)

My resonator is before the muffler. The way I see it, it takes the edge off the raw exhaust and then lets the muffler further reduce it. I don't know if it would make a difference in reverse or not. I'm super pleased with the sound of my truck now. People who haven't been in it before marvel at the sound without saying it's too loud and people definately look up to see who's driving by on the street. I'm not afraid to drive it late at night any more either.

Happy Holidays!

yeah, but a selectable straight pipe is great fun in a parking garage! the coolest sounding xj exaust, not the loudest but the coolest, is just hacking the muffler off behind the cat. its great, throaty, loud under hard acceleration and tolerable interior res if you dont just leave the exaust dumping out right under the pass floor. gives this great throaty offshore rase boat sound.
