Even more bling added to the interior

yes i did, how else would i have scraped it on the two metal things that are under the plastic cover over the steering colum. and the dash panel dosent come out with the plastic cover still there i tried, then found a friend who had the right size screwdriver. took the cover off and still had a hard time, my friend actaully gave up on it, and he's in training to be a diesal mechinic, maybe hes just smarter then i am.

and what does HTH mean?

My '89...

Four screws (one above the lighter, one above the head lamps, two by the instruments), remove the lower trim piece under the column (pull), then just pull the trim straight outward, there are a couple clips that will pop free (without breaking). In order to get it out I tilt the top toward me, and I do have to pull hard, feels like it'll break. It helps if you have tilt steering to put the wheel all the way down.

how do you remove the dash panel. I got mine out when i put my cd player in, but with a lot of diffuculty and ended up scraping it on the top of the steering console. damn near thought i was going to bust the thing in two. there has to be some easierway to get it off.
i went to go jeeps site clicked where it said "see how here" and it just says remove the 4 screws ,big help i expected more from go jeep. I know i'm going to need to take it off again and this time i dont want to break it.

Thats because I did not do the write up :shhh: It's the only one I have not done on the site as someone else did it for me as a favour!

Once you have the column surround off I found it much easier to remove the bolt and the plug for the wiring harness as well. I might have to add it to that write up. Sorry about that!

As for dash noises I dont have any at all! I used to have some noise from where the console and the dash meet so have rubber in between and the other I found was coming from the dash panel where it meets the clear instrument cover. It would rub just on the lower section so I slit some coaxial cable and pulled the outer covering off. I then slid this over the edge of the dash panel where it was resting on the clear instrument cover. HTH.
