Ok, heres the deal...
1998 Grand Cherokee 4.0L 4x4
A few months ago the battery in our GC started getting weak so I went and had it checked and they said is was on its way out so I got a new one...
This helped the problem at first but as time went by the battery would go dead in a couple of days unless the GC was cranked. I had the battery checked and it tested good so I had the Alt. checked and it too tested good....
I now figured it was a short somewhere causing this to happen and by this time it was getting where it was almost going dead over night....
I started checking the circuits one by one and came up with which circuit the drain was coming from and removed that fuse to check to see if it had any effect overnight, the battery was fine and after 3 days of not starting the battery is still in good shape! The short seems to be in the circuit that feeds the Dash Cluster (Gauges and lights), so first I unhooked the headlight switch to check to see if was in the dimmer for the dash lights and that had no effect on the drain so I then unhooked the cluster itself and again, no effect on the amount of drain...
Can someone tell me what else is fed off of that circuit besides the dash cluster or what should I check next?
Man, this electrical stuff is trying on the nerves!:confused1
Thanks!
