Drop pitman arm

So i went and got my tires rotated and balanced, and the guy was saying i should look into getting a drop pitman arm, b/c the bushing are starting to go and look pritty bad. I though you only needed to get a drop pitman arm if you had a 6" lift or more? I only have a 4.5" lift. Do i need to get one or no?

Don't let a guy who mounts and balances tires tell you what you need on your suspension & steering modification.

Tie rod ends is what I assume he was talking about when he said bushings? TRE's wear out, it is natural, I replace mine every so many years as the boot cracks and wears out the TRE faster.

Ya thats true. But he was talking about the pitman arm. The one that comes off the steering box. And then theres like a black bushing around it. Thats what he was talking about.

There is no bushing on the pitman arm The 'bushing' is on the tie rod end (TRE) that is bolted to the pitman arm.

looks like it got overgreased and you have some roadgrime stuck to it... nothing I would worry about, its a freakin jeep! You do NOT need a drop pitman arm, since you are running your track bar in the stock frame-side location. If you installed one as it sits, you would screw up your steering geometry in relationship to your trackbar, likely with some resulting bump-steer. If that tierod end (the goopy) feels tight, don't worry about it...

Yap.....that's a TRE (Tie Rod End) it is gunky and greasy because (A), you are suppose to fill it with grease and it does leak out, or (B) the boot protecting the end is cracked and the grease works its way out.

That should clarify with you what I said; that do not take advice from a tire humper who will tell you need a drop pitman arm because the bushing is wore out

Alright, that sounds good to me. Thanks for all the help. Im glad i dont have to turn around and drop $180 on one. I need that money to get new springs for the rear and get rid of the blocks.
