Drag racing my Jeep

Well I have a 92' 240sx I drag race. But it blew up, and I'm rebuilding it and going turbo. The track is so addicting. I'm going up tomorrow with a friend and he's letting me run his 82' Malibu with a 77' Chrystler 350 in it. So I decided I'll take my Jeep for a trip down the strip. It's only an 8th mile, so I dont think I'll break anything (knock on wood). The best the Nissan has done is a 10.57, and guess as to what the Jeep will run? Something tells me it will be close to the Nissan and in the high 10's. I have the 4.0 by the way, 97.

But here is my new toy for the Nissan, 1600 miles on it and it put down 430HP on the same car. Payed $530 cuz they guy got a deal on a GT series Garrett and wants to go for 500HP

Well I have a Magnaflow high flow cat at home, and I ordered a Flowmaster 50 series, but Abu in India decided that it wasnt in stock after I called and was told it is in stock, and they never got in touch with me to tell me the order was cancelled. That was all supposed to go on first thing tomorrow morning before the race, but it's not happening now. thepartsbin.com sucks, dont buy from them.

I ran my 97 when it was BONE STOCK with the exception of 30x9.50 tires. I got some wheel hop, but still managed to stay in the mid 10's all night.

Careful....you might decide to turbo the Jeep instead!

As temping as the Jeep may be, it'll never have the potential at the track the way the Nissan will. I'm going broke for that car right now, and the spending wont stop. Thank god for a good job and my parents roof (I'm only 19, so I dont feel like a bum living with them still).

Nissan= 450+HP hopefully by June

i am a drag addict as well, what turbo is that on the nissan motor, and how much do u have invested in that motor, or is that just a pic from somewhere else.

what engine did your 240 originally have? ka24de? ka24e?

are doing an sr20 swap?

as for the jeep i dont see why you couldnt pull a 10s 1/8 mile

My 240 has the ka24de, and I'm turboing that motor, screw the sr20 swap. So many people get screwed buying stuff from over seas. That is apic of the turbo I bought on the other guys motor, but its the same thing. I'm just starting this build, so I dont have a ton of money into it yet, but i'll give a quick list of the bigger stuff...

Garrett T3/T04E Turbo $530 Used
Apexi N1 Exhaust $75 Used
Eibach Pro-Kit $75 Used
Stereo Too much money
Engine hoist and stand $200

Needs:
Wastegate $200
Pistons and rods $1100
Koyo $300
Oh god I cant go on, it'll be while before the car is done

So I didnt race tonight, there were 1000 or so other cars and I didnt feel like sitting in the double packed pits, so I just watched. I'll try again next week, with the new exhaust I hope

ANd that drag jeep is sweet

I can't tell you times, but I can tell you its faster than a Civic...:D Those guys get pissed every time they pull up on me...I'm stock except for 30x9.5 MTs and a small boost kit (suspension, not turbo...)

hmm...wonder if he had the D35 narrowed and put those slicks on there...that'd last all of one pop of the trans brake and there'd be pieces of it in the stands. and yeah, civics are slow. . . i dont beat up on them too much anymore.i saw a stock vw golf r-32 taking on a disgustingly pimpedout civic, which was farting its guts out...yeah the r-32 was killing him.

Zfinger... be careful on going turbo on that ka if you havent seriously built the bottom end. one of the s13 guys here in texas hit 450 hp on a ka but he must have bought stock in JUN! fully built bottom end with the nismo cams etc etc. the ka's will support 300 but thats about it for stock, for what you are after you might want to rethink that sr swap... in the long run it will cost more to turbo the ka than to swap and build up on the sr.and SR's have been known to support 500-600 hp no sweat. what are you running in the 1/4? my 93 stock was turning high 14's in the 1/4 at 100-105mph.

The KA has more potential then the SR. 2.0SR < 2.4KA. And yes, this is a bottom up build. I'm maxing the motor out on parts, the really is no budget for the project, just buy the parts as the money comes in. I dont expect to get this project back on the road for less then $6000. The SR is kinda an engine swap for dummies, the KA I think is more respectable because you have to make a lot of parts yourself, and it takes a lot more legwork. Plus the KA I was able to start on right away, the SR I would have had to wait on.

PS, The record for a turbo KA is 633RWHP

the ka motor is a stout motor that is true. i wish you lots of luck in your project.

I wanted to get one of those 240sx as they are neat cars plus dirt cheap around here you see tons of them on the side of the road for sale. But, I decided against getting yet another money pit for this stage of my life. I did see one at Ecology a while back, cleanest car I ever saw in a junkyard, interior spotless, engine looked brand new.
