Hey. Well on Friday I drove down to Houston to go to a drag race with my friend. When we got there they asked me if I wanted to race, and since it was only $10 extra I thought why not. So, here is a list of my modifications/specs and the times I got on my two runs.

Specs:
1997 4.0L Inline 6 242
1997 AW4 Automatic Transmition
1997 NP231 Transfer Case
Stock 3.55 Diffirential Gearing
Fram Air Hog replacement filter
Gibson Cat-Back exhaust
Manual Fan Override Switch
Synthetic Motor Oil
31" Super Swamper TrXuS MT's
Con-Ferr Roof Rack
Full Size Spare mounted on said roof rack
48" Hi-Lift Jack
2ton come-along/hand winch
Pair of PIAA 540 Driving Lamps
2 12" Infinity Subs mounted in custom MDF box.

All this added together makes my Jeep put out an estimated 195hp 240ft/lbs, at 4000lbs.

This said, here were my times for the 1/8 mile. *Note: These runs were preformed with no pre-loading or power braking*

RUN 1:
Reaction Time: 1.3251
60ft: 2.8573
330ft: 7.5677
1/8mi: 11.5526
1/8mi trap speed: 61.61mph

I beat the Honda Civic I was racing against by 4.1660 seconds on the first run because his transmition popped out of gear when he started.

RUN 2:
Reaction Time: 1.3056
60ft: 2.6380
330ft: 7.3719
1/8mi: 11.3701
1/8mi trap speed: 61.46mph

On the second run I once again beat the Honda Civic fair and square by 0.5277 seconds. This Honda Civic had an estimated weight of 2200lbs and 130hp.

I will be building up a 4.6L stroker in the next few months, and after that build I will post my times and the changes that occured.

Next time you go to the track loose the subs, high lift jack, and spare tire. Should help out your time by a few tenths.

Good luck with the stroker.

another rule of thumb is to run with only a 1/4 tank of gas too. I ran my 98 once and it ran the quarter 15.6 @ 93 mph and a 60 foot of , but its 2wd with only 235s and a 5 speed with quite a few bolts ons. I don't remember what my 60 ft was, it was a while ago. I saw a video of an XJ running NO2 and it ran like a 13.9 and beat a Mustang.

Btw, I hope to have a stroker one day, it will more than likely be in my '95 if I do it since its OBDI and it also has a lot more miles on it.

well , mine is a 97 4x4 XJ 4 Door Automatic and i ran it with the half of the tank gas , considering the weight of an a 4x4 and stock , i think that i did ok

doesnt help that the jeep is almost factory "fully loaded" weight
