Ok I've searched. I'm finally upgrading the stero in my DD. I just bought a Xplode Head Unit, now I'm gonna upgrade the speakers. But Can I fit a bigger speaker in the front doors and rear hatch? Lemme see your set ups.

I fit 6.5" type s alpines in my front doors on my 97

I have the sound bar in the rear, no help there. In the front, I fit 6.5" MTX Thunder 3000s, without any cutting into the door panel, just screwing new holes in the sheet metal. However, I recommend cutting into the door panel. The surrounds on my fronts are now completely destroyed, and I believe its from being crammed in there so hard, and the surrounds touching the door panel. Could also be because the speakers are like 7 years old, but I don't think so. The rears are just fine.

ive got 6x9's in my rear hatch screwed in with dry wall screws. the dry wall screws worked great in the fiberglass. havent put the plastic panel back over them yet but if it dont fit ill cut 6x9 holes out and find some grills to put in.

just realized we started talking about door speakers first...

6x9's? you can fit a 10" sub in the doors if you want but there's gonna be Some cuttin! It's not the size it's how many watts. 6x9's won't be any louder than any other 6.5

I got 15's thumpin' in the door held in with 8- 6" deck screws.

:twak:

I just use the 5 1/4" sized. I went with Boston SX55s. They will set you back $300 for all 4 but they sound absolutely amazing. I just got a kicker 350.4 I am wiring up to it so they will be more than loud enough for component speakers.

You dont need BIGGER speakers just look into Better speakers. I actually just put 4" Alpine's in the bottom of the dash where those small grills are. This way I still have music when I remove my doors. :listenmus
Cardboard

Run some 6.5 components with tweeters and crossovers. Blaupunkt has some for 80 bucks a pair probably not the best sound but it would sound good for the price. I had blaupunkt's in my Dub and it sounded damn good

just installed alpine 6.5s in my rear doors... takes some cutting and wiring but they fit

I wish I had gotten 6.5" in my fronts. I have 5 1/4" type s components and they almost fall out

My 87 takes 5.5's unless you drill and cut.....

What ever you do, DO NOT buy roadmaster brand speakers. I bought a pair (from Wal-mart) to replace my non functioning front OE pair (I got tired of only the rears working), within a month one quit.

I fully intend on going with Alpines or Inifinity's here soon.

My jeep can only take 5 1/4 speakers in the front without trimming (its an 89). Is the entire door different between the newer body and older body, or is it just the interior panels?

Hate to resurrect a thread but I've been considering putting speakers in my rear doors. Do you have pics of what yours looks like?

Please resize your picture, and repost. Something under 600x800 will be easier for people to see
