Well, I done went and fawked up.
Tried to jump-start the Jeepster from the XJ, and hooked up the cables to the wrong terminals :anon:
Turned around about 90 seconds later and saw smoke billowing, just as my dad ran over and yanked one of the clamps off.
Cables are toast, Jeepster's battery is toast, and dad got a minor burn on his thumb.
I'm sure glad I had good cables, I think they would have caught fire and most likely burned both jeeps to the ground if I had been using cheap cables that weren't so well-insulated.

That sucks bro.... can't say it hasn't happened to me, but I caught it immediately like within seconds.

A friend of mine wasted a good set of my cables hooking up his side incorrectly.

That doesn't work very well when the entirety of the vehicle's battery wiring (and terminals) is black.

Knew I shoulda splurged on some red electrical tape to mark the Pos cables with...

Always verify the marking on the battery terminal. I NEVER trust wire color, and have taught my wife the same thing.
