does the OEM trans cooler use the "zip tie" mount

Been reading search results for "transmission cooler" looking for one to buy.

I've seen lots of warnings that the often-standard "zip tie" mounting method, while easy, can cause radiator problems over time. While not likely, it does seem it could have a sawing effect on the radiator tubes.

So does the OEM one use this type of mount?

If so, is there a work around mounting method?

I read at least 10 threads about various brands of tranny coolers. Get one off an Exploder, buy a stock one, pick up brand X at autoparts store Y.

I figure I'll just get the OEM one.

Thx

got it, thx

Hey Wes. I'm just finishing up my cooling mod's for the tranny. Tried the B&M 16,000 GVW cooler. Fit real well, fabricated a simple bracket to attach it to the sheet metal under the radiator/condensor. I didn't want to use the through radiator connectors, I'm thinking that over time it would cause problems. It can be a little rough on the trail, lot's of vibrations. Went in nice, but it didn't work too well.
So last night I installed a much bigger unit, 30,000 GVW rated cooler. Had to disassemble the whole front clip to get it in. I'm by-passing the radiator with this one, should make the whole vehicle run cooler, with out the 200 degree tranny fluid passing through the radiator as well.
Also putting in a filter that is tapped for the temp sender. Currently my sender is in line, but I'm moving it to the filter.
I'm plumbing it tonight, will let you know how it goes.

Thanks D.

I should come check out your rig one day.

That should be a trick setup with the spin on filter. I'm going to start out simple and see how it goes. Heh. Knowing me, if I did all that plumbing, I'd spring a leak.
