Does anybody have the colors for the radio wiring harness?

because the douch that owned it before me cut most of the wires. THe connector was still there, but while installing the radio they cut the 6 wires they needed to run the old(must have been installed 10 years ago) radio right next to the connector.

I had it in and working great about 45min after xj88 threw up that link. It is not hard, it just means that in 5 years when I want a new radio I have to splice it again. Oh well.

why not just buy the harness from wall mart? It's 8$

1984-87 use a 2-piece design that walmart does not carry. So far, I have only found that only crutchfield has it! 15$ plus shipping= 25$.

you can if it is later than heck.

The topic was what ARE the colors. He was in line with a question asked of me by a poster, but I had answered it months ago. Valid info just late. Nominated for over thinking this.

gajeepxj - this is a spirited, but good natured debate between members.

You only said that the PO cut all the wires; not where to buy the harness. 6 months is hardly "way late".

gajeepxj - don't listen to him! He's up to something, i KNOW it! :eyes:

crap, after looking through both those sites neither one helped, it acts like there should be 3 wires going to the door locks when there are only two, looks like I get to make up the colors since I am installing the door locks...

91 up should be orange/purple for lock and pink/purple for unlock. Located in driver kick panel somewhere.

the lock solenoids I had come with no wires, and the pigtails I got from the JY had t wires, tan and green. So I just wired it positive negative and ran the wires to a momentary on-off-on DPDT switch that I wired for reversing polarity. Works great as of 10 minutes ago.

I will be getting some momentary SPDT push button switches. That way I can use two for each window and two for the door locks and have it look cool. Gonna use stainless steel buttons with a lighted dot on the button.

fyi, the truck came with manual everything, including steering, which is next to go. I have a chevy "z" steering box ready to bolt in once I have more time than just an afternoon.

Ah wasn't sure what you were doing. Sounds like you got the pigtails from a 91 down that used to have keyless entry. Glad to know everythings working. Those stainless steel switches would look pretty cool. Gonna put them in the door panel? If you need any wiring info on color wires (for pretty much any vehicle) I still have access to a Directed Electronics site that I can use to look up vehicle info.

since it is a manual MJ that came with no power options I have a lot of freedom as to where I put them. I will probably put the window switches on the dummy panels where the rear defrost/trans select/rear wiper type switches would normally go. on the right of the steering wheel. I will probably mount the two I use for the door locks on the mini console.

I will probably be ordering 6 of these, 3 in red and 3 in blue:

I sent an email asking if this seller could come up with the OFF-ON momentary combo I need, and if they would give me a discount on the price. Unless anyone else knows a better place. Ebay is the only place I have seen these. Other places either don't have pictures, or they have sites that are a nightmare to navigate.

Of course now I have to find the time to get up to NC and get my viper system off the parts jeep too...
