Do I disconnect battery cables to weld?

I need to do some welding on my 87'. Do I need to disconnect both the "+" and the "-" battery cables under the hood? Don't want to short anything out. I don't need anymore electrical gremlins...

I do, it only takes a second to do so why not do it.

I always take off the negative.
