Hi,
Again, apologies for posting this here since I'm not a chapter member (yet), but this only makes sense as a local for-sale ad:

I posted my 1991 XJ Laredo for sale 2 weeks ago after the ignition was busted by attempted theft. It will cost too much for me to repair ($700-800) so if you can tow it away, it's yours - worth it for the parts alone.

(San Diego)

200K miles on the engine (rear main seal does leak), BUT:
replaced AW4 in 1991
rebuilt NP242 (by MIT) in 2005
Tomken skid under belly, tow hooks, receiver hitch
3" Skyjacker lift with MJ shackles and beefed up steering shock mount

Power doors/windows/sunroof, detachable face AM/FM/cassette

Asking $600 firm if you can tow it away in the next ~ 48 hours.

I have posted pictures at:

Please call me at 858 945-3718 if interested,
Phil Blanco

The vehicle is in the mechanic's lot so the sooner it can be towed the better, but please give me a call and perhaps we can split the tow fee (2 miles) back to my home.

Thanks for your interest.

Just FYI the 1991 XJ with busted ignition has been sold. Thanks to those who showed an interest and especially to those kind XJers who offered to help fix it!

I'll be hanging around here since I still have my 2001 XJ (one of the last ones made, I think) - what a great community!

hey, wasn't there some place that sold thick metal collars that went around the XJs column? I know nothing is thief proof, but it could be a deterrent. This was a while ago when I saw it.

napa sells the replacement collars for the GM columns, late 80s early 90s, and they are a bit beefier than the stock units, but they are becoming hard to get. iiRC its the same column in the late 80s xj? :dunno:
