can't we do a meetin at someones house, or the park at the zoo. I understand it's very hard for people to admit that they can't afford somewhere, so most do not respond. I'm in Clifton, and would love to show up, however the food on top of the fuel makes it tough. A park, someones yard, the local jail, I could do all those, the zoo, we could bring grills (and near the lake buoys) and coolers full of low cost drinks, then we could trick family members into thinking we were actually thinking of them as well. Payin a restaurant for a piece of meat that I could produce with fallen branches and a lighter makes me sad, and who wants to see me cry? Or is that your evil plan, to lure me to a restaurant and watch me cry?

Lets have it at the Jail!! Free transport there, and the city even picks up LUNCH!!!! we can even take a little nap afterwards.

OK...I'm gonna try this again....

The second Sat. of the month, that's the 12th of July for those of us (like me) who can't seem to read a calendar...picnic style. :jester:

I think that we should do it at Lake Grapevine in that it appears to be a central location. I'm thinking a late lunch around 2.

The exact location at the lake is still TBD because I know nothing about the area, so if anyone has any helpful suggestions, please feel free to make them.

I wish I could. I am going to be at Army Officer school throughout July and don't come back until August 8th. Gunna be bad enough loaning out my Battlewagon to family while I am gone :( ugh my Dad is already eyeballin some trails around Marine Creek lake.

I'll be there in spirit!

Sounds like a good plan, I'm down for it.
Theres a big pavilion on the lake next to the damn that would be great, and a good place for r/c crawlers too!

So is it gonna be Lake Grapevine?
Bit of a drive for me but sounds good.
MIGHT even be able to talk the wife into going.
Let us know the exact location and how to get there.
(dont know the lake area)

Okay, I'm down with this. Hopefully I can get the wife down there as well. I did some digging and found the following information on the lake:

Grapevine Lake - Wikipedia
Army Corp of Engineers

It looks like there are 2 open picnic areas at Rockledge and Murrell run by the ACoE, both on the north side of the lake in Flower Mound. I suggest we try Rockledge, though someone more familiar with the lake is free to make other suggestions.

Will this be a "bring your own food" or will it be "someone brings this and someone brings that?"

If we make it we will be in the ol lady's "Trail Rated" mini-van.
UNLESS... there's somewhere to wheel close by.

Lets do a BYOF and if you want to bring something for "share-sies" feel free. I may try and bake some cookies to bring along. No comments or I you don't get any.

There is supposedly a place to wheel on the lake, but details are sparse so I currently have no plans to hit it.

Cool, I can smell the Ribeyes already.
I'll see if the 'ol lady will fix one of her Peach Cobblers if there might be a few that like that kind of thing.

The place that they use to allow us to wheel is now closed to full-size ORV (it was Marshall Creek..now known as Trophy Club Park or whatever).
That blows.
Why'd they close it???????
I have heard about Marshall Creek, never been, dont like the idea of having to pay to wheel.
Grew up in So. Calif.
LOTS of places to go for free way back then.

guess i need to get use to having to pay OR move to Colorado.
