Detroit broke?

thats like saying a Cherokee and a Wrangler are the same because they're both Jeep.

Detroit is the brand.

no spin is the mechanical locker

trutrac is the mechanical LSD.

they share no parts and nothing in common other than a brand name.

What he's got there is a Detroit Nospin, or the original Detroit Locker.

I was more referring to Talyn saying that the OP was incorrect in calling what he has a Detroit. Which it is. Just a specific model. Calling a truetrac a Detroit is not incorrect. It's like calling an XJ a Jeep

He initially thought it was a true trac. As he referred to it in his first post. He was not sure if it was a locker.

Guess I misunderstood your quote of him and saying not even close

Idk my tires are like new so I doubt that's it. It was a freebie to me so its been through the ranks before I'm sure. It's probably been wheeled hard, I don't honestly know. Good news is I can pick it up Thursday with a new locker in it:D

If a tire on one side was larger than the other side could this be possible? I don't mean a 31 and 33, but maybe a worn out tire or different brand. It would be constantly ratcheting.

as someone that daily drove a 5 speed MJ with a full detroit locker in the rear.

You will know when the tires don't have the same amount of air in them, I'd imagine unevenly worn tires would produce the same (bad) behavior.
lots of ratcheting, loud bangs and a willingness to try to kill you during simple lane changes.

Yep, that's daily driving a detroit.
