Re: finally lifted my jeep.

Re: finally lifted my jeep.

Nice rig. I'm interested in upgrading to a long or mid arm lift. I'd like more tech on that install and performance when you can.

Re: finally lifted my jeep.

the install was straight forward. pulled the coils pulled the control arms cut off the lower mounts butted the mounts against the stock transmission cross member and burned them into the Ruff stuff chassis stiffeners. moved the axle to my desired wheel base cut the lowers to length welded them up. grabbed the upper mount got it where the suspension would cycle without hitting it on the frame welded it on and cut the upper to length leaving room for caster adjustment and burned that on assembled all the susp and we were done. drove it for about a year on 2" of lift with the mid arm setup!

Re: finally lifted my jeep.

got my skid plate done today! it mounts using 13 bolts so its not going anywhere!

How much did the skid cost to build?

I spent $100 on a 4x5 foot piece of 3/16 I have enough left for a good sized t case skid and a couple other little things.

Wanna make one for me and help me install it when I go down and have max install my mid arms? Ha.
I'll pay for the metal.

Max has all the cad files for it at the shop you may be able to talk him into making you one.

After the lift we found that my steering and my swaybar mounts were fighting for the same area... so long story short they got cut off! Today I went to dirtbound and max was kind enough to weld some extended ones on for me. Drives 100% better on the road with the swaybar connected.

I think you should name it the Brute Skid lol

Yea its going to be welded to the stock cross member, it will also have some gusseting on the back side to prevent it folding up.

got the skid mostly done just needs paint and the ruffstuff stiffeners drilled and tapped.

tacked togther it went in and out another 4-5 times before it was considered ready for paint!
