denver area camping spots?

New to this area up here so dont know where the good spots are to go camping. im off 70/sheridan roughly and dont mind a lil drive to get to a decent camp spot. For this weekend im not looking for anything with a trail as we might take the Xterra, but with it being a holiday weekend, might use the jeep to get into some deeper areas awway from the crowds.....

Looking to camp friday night - sunday morning....


Lefthand? Kelly flats?

Kelly isn't a bad trail (you'll think its "flat" ), but you don't want to camp on it. If you're up the Poudre Canyon to Kelly, go further up to Rustic, hang a right, hand a gradual left and go up Sevenmile -- not for any kind of real wheeling, but lots of nice creek-side camping. I was up there last weekend (and most of my youth) and had a really nice camp.

Good camping on Middle St. Vrain above Camp Dick as well, but usually not open yet on Memorial Day weekend.

Middle St. Vrain is nice and the trail is fun with water crossings.

Looks like her friend at work talked her into dakan road off rampart. Any experience there?

dry. I like creekside camping personally. You may have a good deal of 2-stroke company on Dakan as well, which is something I usually try to avoid...

Pretty sure Kelly Flats is still closed. It was closed all last year due to trail damage aka a huge mudhole. Even if that's fixed it's usually a late opener.

285 (Santa Fe) south to Sadalia, follow the signs towards Deckers, take a left on Rampart...

Nope You turn right on 67 from 285 then left on 105 then turn right on dakan road. I wanna say about 5-8 miles down the road...

Use my directions to get onto Rampart, use Keifers to get on Dakan -- if you're coming through CR, exit Meadows Parkway, go west, catch 285 (rt turn clyde) and follow directions from there...
