So last week I spent it down on the Mississippi Gulf coast courtesy of my paper. It was a work trip. Our little valley adopted the town of Pearlington and writer Scott Condon and I went down there to see how much, or how little, progress has been made.
While I was down there, my girlfriend borrowed my XJ and went to Steamboat to visit some friends. No prob. She told me about it before I left.
She said it drove and handled well. She even did a bit of wheeling but nothing serious.
Yesterday, I drove from Aspen to the tailwaters of Ruedi Reservoir about 12 miles south of Basalt. I was driving around the area (they have very easy dirt roads) when I heard a dragging noise underneath. I stopped and looked under the Jeep and saw my driver's side tie rod end sitting on the ground. :firedevil
Kind of a bummer, but thank god it happened to me not the girlfriend. Especially when she was on the highway most of the time.
Today, I just borrowed a friends truck, went to NAPA in El Jebel for the part and fixed it.
