well as most of you know gettin a lil wobble in the the wheels here and there is a pretty common thing....
especially for the jeep i just bougt...it had a few bent parts in the steering asembly......

well last night i was drivin over union on austin bluffs.....when i hit a lil bump i got a lil bit of wobble int he wheel....usually i give it a lil love in the throttle or change lanes and i can get ti calmed down.....well there was a truck/trailer in front of me and a subi next to me.....
as the speed limit changes to 25 right there the trailer/truck got on his brakes and therefore i had no choice but to do the same.....
to call what ensued "wobble" would be an understatement...jeep was rockin violently and i had no steering ontrol...i started to go into left lane.....
this is where crap gets bad......
i could either drift over more and hit the subi next to me or try and turn right and calm down the wobble.....just as i tried to turn right....jeep shoots left..HARD....i correct right and jeep almost catches itself....but i hit a few big traffice cones and lost the back end.....
so here i am..once again shooting left....but with the back/right leading the jeep...i hop the mediam and HELLO LIGHT POLE!!!!!!!
i hit pretty hard..went from driver to passenger back to driver seat in about 2 seconds and i HAD my seatbelt ON!!!!!
hittign the pole tossed the jeep in the air and spun it about half a turn in the process....
i somehow landed right side up....didnt hit anyone...or get hurt...(a few bruises but thats all).....
AND i got to drive the jeep home......

heres some pics.....

the jeep drove fine....quite to my suprise....think i bent the rear right rim tho.....

think imma sell this one and start over....so much for tryin to keep this jeep nice.....

so if ya know anyone interested let me know

ha thats what i was thinkin.....
but the lady is right...i do need something a lil more managable..i work in woodland park and drive it 6 days a week.....so something crazy just wont do lol
and startin over will prolly end up being cheaper

OUCH! You are one lucky fooker!

Looking at the first picture instantly made me think "back-half", but I don't have to dive it. I'm glad you are OK.

ya i would wanna cut off back end and seal it up behind that.....but i imagine thats pretty costly.....

Yeah, that coulda been so much worse for you or someone else. Glad no one got hurt.

We'll all keep an eye out for a good cheap rig for ya.

DAMN!!!

actually to my surprise and to the surprise of teh CO-springs utility guy that showed up.....i DID NOT take down the pole....barely even scratched!!!!i just managed to knock off the covers for the bulbs...which fell and destroyed the windsheild:bawl:

Glad you are alright.............it is amazing that you never know what is going to happen at any given time.

This should be the poster for what happens if you ignore your death wobble issues.....................

Last XJ I had which was like 2001, I got run off the road by a UPS semi truck. When I was asked why I swerved to the right leading me to spin out and ramming a guard rail I replied; "A looked to my left and could see the type & size of shoes the driver was wearing through the lower window on his passenger's side and when the tires lightly touched my Jeep it was partially out of my hands............"

I had my wake up call with other vehicles, it's not just a Jeep thing. I do agree that a 4 wheel drive suspension and steering has more mass to keep under control.

Sorry to hear about your Heep!! Glad you are ok!! Lesson learned....NEVER neglect steering or brake issues!!

ok so question for yout tech guys.....

i swapped rims on the back...so if left rim is known to be straight and i put it on the right and i put the supposed bent right rim on the left......
and the right side still wobbles and left doesnt .....

that means rim was never bent...it was something in the axle?!....WTF?....what could i have bent that lets it spin with no noise or resistance but makes wheel sit it an angle.....
its almost like a camber that follows one spot on the tire?!....

any thoughts there....?...and how mych to replace from junkyrd or FNJeep?

and i looked...then dent stops short of the frame rail...its just the body beashed in toward teh rail....have about 1/4" clearance :)
