I had been trying that hill climb for the last 3 weeks with no success. My rear dif kept on dragging on the ground about 20 feet from what I thought was the top. The funny thing was that when I got my ARB lockers front and rear I thought I wouldn’t need to ‘gas’ through things like I had to before I got the lockers. After being ‘inspired’ by DesertJeeper going up it at a good pace and making it, I figured I should give it a try (again, probably the tenth time). Little did I know that at the top there was a dip and I came down pretty hard, as we all did. It looks so unsuspecting! I don’t think I got air but damn, I hit real good and being locked up front with the wheels still spinning took a toll on my poor little Dana 30. If I had known better I would have lightened up a tad at the top but…I learned the hard way with ZERO FINESSE. I am in search of new axles (with the bigger U-Joints) right now. It seems as if I damaged the seal in the axle a little because it is dripping so I have to get that changed out too.
Joe! I am so sorry. I checked the forum pretty late on Friday night and didn’t see your post. If I had only knew I would have brought you new lift kit. I am sorry. Maybe we can meet in the middle one day late this week and get you taken care of. PM me or send an e-mail and we’ll hook up.
Eric, you and your son missed a good one. I have those Thule feet for your roof rack at my house. Next time we hook up I’ll bring them for you. All you’ll need is the Thule Load Bars (58”) and you’ll be set. Russ @ Block should be able to get the bars for you and if not I could source them too. Are you going to be in Big Bear annual event in April?
DesertJeeper, thanks a lot for bailing me out. I will send it back within the next week or so. I also love the trail-side education on swapping it out. I love that stuff.
