Its the round aluminum spacer type thing that surrounds the female input gear (left side)

All the bolts are removed except for the 2 that stripped out. I drilled those out, and the top parts snapped off so nothing should be holding it in now correct? is there anything else holding that piece in?

there's nothing else holding it in, but it's probably seized in there. put a monkey wrench on the aluminum and try to spin it and work it out. don't be afraid to use a hammer/screwdriver where appropriate

no prob. did you get it out?

thats what ill be working on tonight, along with cleaning, painting and hopefully starting install of 32 spline rear output

got another question...pertaining to jb conversions 32 spline heavy duty output.

what kind of sensor goes in the space on the side of the housing? its a pretty big hole (thats what she said).

My guess would be the kind of sensor you find just after the mechanical speedo but before the pulse type. Like what's on my '92.

Maybe you can hammer on the other end of that shaft and pop the cover loose.

i called JB conversions and am waiting to hear back. it has a speedo gear inside it, so i need that style of sensor to fit, just dont know the correct one.

The one out of your 231 should fit it...

yea it fits...but not exact. the bolt hole doesnt line up and the sensor sticks out too far...

anyone got a picture or know if a yj's speed sensor is slightly different. i thought i heard thats whats supposed to go in there...but im not sure.
