just finished taking the doors off about 20 minutes ago. The flight suite is hot as is, and having small windows sucks. Now I can get one leg out the door and it will force air through the whole thing. I love wearing Pajamas to work. If it rains I will just drive the MJ. It will be getting a new ac conversion soon(compressor is fried anyway) just need to get the bracket I need from the JY and new ac hoses.

97+ front header panel, soon to de-badge it..

I also just got solidworks 2009 so I can make some custom badges and images and use my dad's cnc router to cut them. I think I am going to make them brushed aluminum.

I have about two "off-the-shelf" parts on my jeep, haha... okay that's an exaggeration, but just about everything I've touched can be considered "custom."

Two most significant ones; MPI conversion, and ~4" lift.

Oh, and some Parking-lot Rash down the front passenger side...

Always more to come though!

Two small things that I made that make wheeling better/easier are 1" risers for my seats (see better) and a dead peddle for my left foot (stay in the seat better).

Pardon a long post on a simple question, but:
I like the Cherokee for its utility. It's just a practical vehicle that can also do some pretty respectable off-roading - and maintain practical DD values.
I can't leave stuff alone, though, so I'm working on a build plan that keeps all the Cherokee design goals (AC, Heat, windows & doors, street manners & off road capability) but more so.
When I'm done, I'll take it to the body shop and have them re-badge it "Anasazi" - the ancestral native americans that were here before the modern Cherokee, and a bit rougher around the edges.
I've got the inside bedlined. Rear ZJ discs. Mild lift. Bigger tires. In the works: WJ knuckles, SYE, stiffeners, overhead console, the list goes on...
THe point I'm making is this: If you are going to build your rig to be what YOU want, instead of the Factory Original, make a plan and name it something else. You do a lot of road trips? Get a compass. Lot of mudding? Some trick OEM looking / integrated mudflaps. Dig hotrods? 8 ball shifter. Drive barefoot? Fuzzy pedal covers. Drive with heavy winter boots alot? Maybe space the pedals so you don't mash 'em both at the same time. Too tall? Lower the seats. Etc.
Think of what you like about your rig & add to it.
Nobody else's personal touches are going to be Your personal touches.

Hatch Lights, bitchin' stereo, 3" lift, custom painted wheels, painted lower 1/4 of jeep, door pockets, auto dim-compass mirror, ZJ leather, hella fogs, adj track bar, AUX hitch lights, ect...

Has anyone debadged a 97+ XJ?

Ive always wanted to do mine, but I cant tell if there is a clearcoat over the stickers or not.
Anyone have an idea of how much a body shop would charge to take off all the emblems and stickers on a Jeep?

I debadged mine. No clear coat over the stickers on the 2001 sport model.

I don't know of any auto manufacturer that actually put the decals on prior to a clear coat.. it just doesn't make sense.

To take them off use a hair dryer and some fishing line.

Stickers are usually among the last things to go on IIRC. I've thought about pulling the newer badging in favor of the 96 and older stuff as well as clear outs and orange bulbs for the front turn signals under the headlights like the earlier ones too. If I do anyhting to really make it different, I want to make it hard to spot and more towards pavement oriented suspension work.
