Custom Snorkel Type Intakes (Cowl)

Tried to fit the ford filter and the only place it would fit is where the air box was, So ractive makes a 6 cone filter with a 3" inlet on both ends . Ordered it from a local supplier and hoping it fits beside the power brake diaphragm and then run it straight back to the heater air conditioning plenum.

A guy over on Cherokeeforum did this recently. Alot of junk in the thread, the actual writeup starts on page 3.

I've been considering doing this too, though i want to try to do it without the corrugated (misspelled I'm sure) tubing and keep it all smooth tubing. And possibly use a tuube style encloseure or a ford airbox instead of a modifie XJ box. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link. I wonder if you could use aluminized exhaust pipe and silicon hose bends to make the tubing- it would provide smooth airflow, and would look alot better.

I have an early range rover air filter box sitting in the garage waiting to do this. Cost me 20 bucks on ebay with a K&N filter already installed. It's basically a metal cannister type, but not nearly as big as GoJeep's diesel truck filters.

I think it's small enough to fit beside the throttle body, that's where I'm going to put it.

You know what is awesome? You could easily pull off the cap and add a section of PVC to raise the intake much higher.
